Official Opening 7.30 pm Friday 6th June 2008

Catch and Weigh eligible species for Open competition – eight (8) - Salmon, Fingermark, Tusker, Grunter, Queenfish, Mackeral, Trevally, Coral Trout/Red Emperor/Nannygai only. Prizes for heaviest & runner-up on Saturday nights, and overall heaviest and runner-up at final presentation Sunday night.
Catch and Weigh eligible species for Junior (12 years & under) competition—six (6) - Salmon(blue), Salmon, Bream, Queenfish, Grunter.

Catch and release legal size Barramundi only (Junior & Open). Digital photo of fish on Official Classic Measuring Sticker to be presented to Weigh Master at final weigh-in on Sunday. No daily prize.

Fishing times – commence at Midnight (2400 hours) Friday night, 06th June following briefing, reading of the rules and entertainment. Fishing concludes three o’clock (1500hrs) Sunday 08th June.

Weigh-ins: The weigh-in for Catch and Weigh species on Saturday 07th June commences at 4.30pm and finishes at 5.30pm. Weigh-in on Sunday 08th June commences at 3.00pm and finishes at 4.00pm. Competitors must be in line by the finishing time to be eligible for individual species prizes, and the overall species prizes. In the event of a tie in either the Catch and Weigh or Catch and Release (Barramundi) the first fish weighed or sighted by the Weigh Master will be deemed the winner. No other species other than target species will be weighed.

Venue - The venue for the 2008 Classic will be the Western Cape College Grounds. The Committee seeks cooperation from all Competitors to respect the College Grounds, buildings and facilities at all times. The Classic’s theme in 2008 is Family Fishing Fun, encouraging family participation and the responsible intake of alcohol at the venue. Bar facilities will operate during these times at the discretion of the Western Cape College P & C association. It is illegal to bring alcohol onto the grounds, and patrons should be advised that police and security will be present throughout the weekend. Hot food will be available on site. Please support local community organisations and sporting groups by purchasing your meals on site.

Venue Opening and Closing times - The venue will be open at the following times: Friday 06th June 5.30pm—10.30pm Saturday 07th June 4.30pm—Midnight Sunday 3.00pm—10.30pm

Fishing Grounds include all the waters within and offshore waters adjacent of Albatross Bay and Port Musgrave.

Random and Major Prize Draws - The Final Major Prize Draw will comprise of thirty (30) competitors. Five competitors’ numbers will be drawn on Friday night between 7.30-9.00pm, a further 20 competitors will be drawn between 6.30pm—9.00pm on Saturday night. The final five competitors numbers will be drawn between 6.00pm—7.30pm Sunday. At the Competitor Draws, the Competitor or a proxy with the Competitor’s ticket must be present at each draw. The Competitor or Proxy must be present for the Final Major Prize Draw, if not further number/s will be drawn prior, to complete the thirty places. A full list of the thirty Major Draw prizes will be made available at the official Opening on Friday night. |

Random draws for daily prizes to competitors will take place throughout each night’s activities; the Competitor must be in attendance to claim the prize. No proxies for daily random prizes will be accepted.
